We aim to build a community of women supporting women around the world. For every item that is purchased, we place a percentage of profit in our Kiva.org fund, which is a revolving fund that helps provide micro loans to underserved communities around the world.
Unlike a donation that only has an impact one time, this fund will be able to continue to provide loans and help global communities improve their lives by giving opportunities.
What is Kiva.org?
Kiva is an international nonprofit, founded in 2005 in San Francisco, with a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. More than 1.7 billion people around the world are unbanked and can’t access the financial services they need.
Kiva.org does this by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the underserved, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment and families can afford needed emergency care.
By lending as little as $25 on Kiva, you can be part of the solution and make a real difference in someone’s life.
100% of every dollar you lend on Kiva goes to funding loans.
How does it work?
A borrower applies for a loan. The loan goes through the underwriting and approval process. The loan is posted to Kiva.org and lenders can crowdfund at $25 increments or more. Fundraising is completed. Borrower repays the loan. Lenders use repayments to fund new loans or donate.
