We carefully built our modest fashion brand not only focused on bringing functional pockets to women's fashion, but with a social impact purpose.
We are building a community of women centered around loving our humanity and individuality through our modest apparel. We honor each other in what we chose to wear and reflect in each woman's personal "Look" and help support other women entrepreneurs chase their dreams.
For every item purchased from our boutique, Shakli places a percentage of proceeds in our kiva.org fund and issues micro-loans in $25 increments.
Unlike a donation that has a ONE time impact, this fund continues to grow as each loan is repaid and redistributed.
What is Kiva?
Kiva is an international nonprofit, founded in 2005 in San Francisco, with a mission to expand financial access to help underserved communities thrive. More than 1.7 billion people around the world are unbanked and can't access the financial services they need.
Kiva.org does this by crowdfunding loans and unlocking capital for the underserved, improving the quality and cost of financial services, and addressing the underlying barriers to financial access around the world. Through Kiva's work, students can pay for tuition, women can start businesses, farmers are able to invest in equipment, and families can afford needed emergency care.
How does it work?
A borrower applied for a loan. The loan goes through the underwriting and approval process. The loan is posted to Kiva.org and lenders can crowdfund in $25 increments or more. Fundraising is completed. Borrower repays the loan. Lenders use repayments to fund new loans or donate.
